Infrastructure Developed
Laboratory space, covering a total area of approximately 2000 sq. feet, has been divided into 5 laboratories.
A) Basic Molecular Biology (including recombinant DNA Technology)
B) Immunotechnology
C) Protein Engineering and Enzyme Technology
D) Microbial Technology
E) Biochemistry

Wet Lab Equipments
Bioinformatics Lab Practical classes are being carried out as a part of the studentsí laboratory course-work in the aforesaid laboratories. Additionally, separate tissue culture room have been set up to carry out plant tissue culture. Separate space for faculties, lecture theatre, and seminar, have also been allotted in the department.

Future Plans
To setup two LTSP servers serving 10 terminals (thin clients) each, both the LTSP servers to be connected to two dedicated application servers loaded with different Bioinformatics softwares of regular use. This is in view to make the serversí response time the minimum.

Bioinformatics Lab Developing a cluster computing facility in the university campus, to meet the high end computational requirements for molecular dynamics and molecular modeling jobs.

Library
The library which is fully air-conditioned has at present about 2400 titles and 8000 items in the existing collection. All nationally published journals in science & technology and international journals like Nature, Science and Scientific American are subscribed as hard copy. It is now fully digitalized, equipped with the facility of barcoding of all items, on-line document repository, integration of on-line journal access(INDEST),Z 39.50 services implementation, intra-networking and multilingual support, integration and implementation of LTSP with ILS system in order to provide reading room services and digital library net content.
